fanart

I love seeing the fanart on Deviant Art. JB uses that site a lot and its cool to see so many people trying out the Kells Style. These cloth dolls are a definite favourite though...:)

  1. Some of the fan art on DA is amazing but this guy http://chris-secretkells.deviantart.com/ is just posting artwork ripped from this blog and saying it's theirs. Several people have called them on it but he just hides their comments.

  2. I finally saw the film last night. It was rich in visual symbolism and filled with unexpected beauty. I wanted to see it again immediately and will catch another showing in the coming week, while it's still in Seattle.

  3. That dA site is now deactivated, thankfully. Love the watercolour of Aisling (2nd pic)! I ought to draw some TBOK fanart soon myself...

  8. Anonymous: those are probably ear cuffs. That style of ear decoration has been around for a very long time.

  9. ... or maybe Celtic hoop earrings. Please see link below, last paragraph:

Can't seem to find any reference of this in the web, aside from the link above. I'm not sure if the wearing of earrings even have any religious significance. Only Bro. Aidan and Brendan may be seen wearing them; and so, methinks it could signify a rite of passage, or a bond across distances (a bond that has come into communion). I could be wrong. The Abbott himself is earringless, as are the other monks in the Abbey. Hmmm, I wonder if the illustrated comics shed light on this?

Wikipedia has a modest article on earrings (see Ring of Ear.jpg),
