Hey - heres a link to Jeremy Purcels Blog - He put soem work in progress up of the waves sequence he is working on at the moment..its looking cool. The very first designs and concepts for these waves were done in 1999 by Jer,myself and apinted by Ross Stewart , so i can't wait to see it all put together and in colour finally.
He another champion of the new 2d paperless workflow, and he's using it on his new project "wulfie" - looks really cool. I think thats the future for 2d really.

update
Hi folks,
just an update... well... recently Camille and I went for a week to Angouleme to Spirit who are doing some lovely work on the compositing. It was nice to start to see some of the complex scenes with all the bells and whistles. As usual I wished I'd studied French a bit more in school!
Its great to see the scenes with all the various elements pulled together, Flash animated extras, the handdrawn characters and all the filters and tones and stuff appllied as well as the SFX and Cg elements. Overall I guess its coming together well. Those images posted are screen shots. yep, not concepts, not scene illustrations, but finished done and dusted screen shots.
I think we'll be able to put a fairly decent trailer together soon. Of course we'll post it up here when its ready.
I have plenty of ideas of how to better organise things for next time of course,,but sure its always a learning curve....
The guys in Spirit have done a great job of pulling it all together and its a relief to see that it looks pretty good . Well, I think so at least! I think despite budget limitations and all the organisational problems we've had , all the hard work of everyone involved really shows on screen and I guess thats the most important thing.
I hope to spend quite a bit of time over in Angouleme next year working on the final images and post and all.
The HUGE BD library there is pretty cool too.....!
anyway I'm off to Hungary again next week and in the mean time theres always plenty of scenes to check from everywhere!

Belgian Crew
The Belgian 2d crew are almost finished ! Sigh. Well its been a long old road. They did some super stuff. One of the best animators there , David Bols , made a funny spoof clip of how awesome and hard core they all are ...its on youtube here - http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=d818dYn2D6E
Hope to work with those guys again, Big shout outs to supervisor Marie Laure Guisset and Benoit Marcendella and Benoit Feroumont - . above are some stills of a very tricky rare perspective shot that Marie Laure and David did a lovely job on - just one of loads of cool scenes by the team over there - thanks lads and see you soon in Dublin town!

Ode to Brazil
Thanks to Jean Moura over in Lightstar for sending me these pictures of the Brazilian team.
Jean and Herle Kuhl are looking after the team in her studio who are doing clean up and inbetween on a chunk of the animation there.
Just wanted to say a big thank you to all the artists there here on the blog , for all their hard work.
It feels weird to have never met you and I'm sure its weird for you all to be drawing Irish monks all day. So from rainy wet Eire to sunny Brazil - Go raibh mile maith agaibh.

alone again
Weird feeling this week. Pretty much down to just me and Nora on Brendan. All the other artists are on exciting new CS projects. Nora is half time on Brendan and rest of the time on new projects we are developing. Skunk Fu rooms are empty. Brendan room is empty. I just approved the last Bg on Hobsoft. Adrien has been a super trooper getting everything tidied up. I have the latest cut of the animatic on my ipod and we had a big meeting about compositing and so on earlier this week. Mainly it was just a confirmation of how we will work with Spirit and the Belgian studios. Theres still a fair amount of animation to do but the stuff from Kecskemet is looking good and its coming in fast. Feels like we are getting there ... theres a ways to go but I'm fixing my sights on finishing the "picture" now as soon as possible. Then we'll see about the music and sound and all that. Adrien and I are gonna start further development on the new feature in a week or two...thats exciting. Tod Polson dropped by this week too, he is working on his short movie the Gingerbread man and he used some of us salooners as voices. Its gonna be a funny one. Camille has gone home to her beau in Istanbul and she will continue to work from there going to the various studios and organising things from there. .....
and so you don't feel cheated with a load of text and no imagery heres a few
frames from one of the first approved and compisited scenes..looks good in motion...animation by Caroline Piochon here in CS , clean up from Lightstar studios in Brazil, ink and paint by Digital Graphics in Liege and compositing by Spirit in Angouleme.
